Re: Generic jeep
Hambone, that BUDD number equates to a Ford-built M151A1, delivered Sept 1966 under Contract DA20-113-AMC-02787-(T)-(MYP). If it was issued to the army, it would most likely have had a hood number close to 2L 0xxx.Hambone wrote:Not yet, I will get the whole number, thanks Ken.

Re: Generic jeep
You never know what you will find when rebuilding one of these jeeps, I guess the last guy wasn't up to the challenge of changing the rear a-arm bushings, he decided using red rubber hose would be easier.
Re: Generic jeep
Those appear to be red urethane bushings. Or whats left of them.

Re: Generic jeep
Looks are deceiving, black on the inside, red on the outside, layered rubber, the nylon cord was the dead give away, they didn't even cut them straight.rickf wrote:Those appear to be red urethane bushings. Or whats left of them.

At least the ride was soft, for a short period.

Haven't been wanting to bore you with this none original project, here are a few parts I have finished, this is the color I'm going with, it's BLP camo paint, painted my M211 with it and it's been holding up well.
Also about to build a rotisserie that I can roll in and out of the shop.

Re: Generic jeep
If you have a stuck piston in the master cylinder, you can screw a 1/2" bolt into it to extract it , figured my core would be in bad shape, cleaned right up, gonna try my new ultrasonic cleaner from Harbor Freight, then run a hone thru it, didn't see any pitting at all. new master cylinder $75, rebuild kit $30.
Re: Generic jeep
That master cylinder appears to still have the small holes in it. Are the holes in the mounting bracket a lot bigger? Usually you have to drill out the holes in the master cylinder. I am wondering if someone just used smaller bolts. And I am really interested in how the cleaner works.
