Armored M151
Here's another one shared from Army Jeep Parts. I don't remember what part of Vietnam they said it was taken. The rear suspension doesn't seem to be squatting quite as much as I would expect with several hundred pounds of armor. Almost as interesting as the armor, I think, is the shovel. I don't recall seeing many pictures of M151s in country that had a shovel or ax still on them.
Re: Armored M151
That is a factory up armor kit and I am guessing it probably included the rear overload springs. The shovel would be because if that thing goes off the road it will sink like a rock and somebody is going to be digging.

Has anyone ever seen an up-armor kit for sale?

Magnesium rear wheel. Wonder if that's by accident or on purpose. Also noted the steel plate on bottom.

Re: Armored M151
The steel belly plate was part of the kit and the wheel may have been on purpose or just what was laying around when they needed one to put a tire on, which is more likely.

The two vertical holes in front of the rear tire on the side panel in line with the opening of the door, I have those holes on my jeep. I've always wondered why they were there, I wonder if my jeep at one time was armored?
