STG 44 22

Unread post by raymond » March 28th, 2013, 3:53 pm

American Tactical has them in for a short time. They always sell out in short order, even before the unfortunate events of last December in Connecticut. I was able to order one plus a spare magazine for a pretty good price, especially considering the current inflated prices on all things firearm related. It should be here next week. One was tested in Shotgun News. Anybody ever fired one :?:

I owned one for a little while. It was very nice but big & heavy (for a .22LR) very much in line with the real Stg.44. The internals are the same as those of the GSG MP5 clones which stands to reason as they are the ones also manufacturing Stg.44. I never really got the chance to break it in but it was fairly reliable in feeding & shooting 22LRs. I think if there is a down side to owning that plinker it is that it will make you want an original MP44. Enjoy your new toy!

Thanks for the reply. It won't be in until the end of next week. I kind of have the feeling that this one could actually be a collector's item some day.

Yeah I think you may be right on that. The local shop near me has one on the wall.. What is on my short list of .22s is (another) S&W M&P15/22. Now that is a lot of (affordable) fun to shoot!....Provided you can get ammo  ... Know anything about AKs? Kind of got a hankering for another AK74

I sure like my SW MP 15 22. I just put a trigger kit in it. If you are serious about another AK, look a little off the beaten path. I have a Galil, and I'm convinced that with it's sights, it's the best of the breed.

Had one of those to.... 8) . I've had a bevy of AKs over the years in various configurations by different manufactures. The Polish Tantle is a fun little number. Amazing how gentle the recoil is in that 5.45X39mm cartridge with virtually no muzzle climb. One AK I've never owned is a good plain Jane AK74 in 5.45. Looked at some Saigas in the local shop. Bit pricey, but nicely made (well, for an AK anyway).

You may already be a member over on the Falfiles but in case not, here's a link to a thread regarding the STG-44 in .22LR http://www.falfiles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=334332 You may find some good info in there.

It made it to the dealer yesterday. Pretty fast shipping if you ask me. I picked it up today. Nice wooden transit chest. The rifle is VERY heavy. I'm sure it weighs close to original it is patterned after, around 10 pounds. Here are a few pictures of it. For you guys in NY, NJ, Ca, or other states behind enemy lines, It's nice to live in a free state :!:  8)

ATI may be importing a semi version of the MP 40 in 22LR. If so, I would buy one if I can get it as a short barreled rifle.
