Graves Mountain Labor Day Weekend Trailrides in Virginia
Well, it's that time again! We are putting together the 3rd Annual Graves Mountain rally up at the farm in Virgina. We're looking for folks who want a nice family-oriented get-together, lots of outdoor activities at the Lodge, as well as trail rides, vending for anyone who wants to sell stuff, etc. We had a great time last year, maybe 30 people and 15 or so trucks, open to everyone from 1/4-ton trucks to 10-tons, there is something here for everyone!
We have had a few work weekends this year and have managed to create a bunch of new trails ranging from really tough (rock garden up on top of the ridge, steep, use a built jeep and be fearless...) down to some mild ones on the side of a mountain and down in the valley by the river (great for the deuces and five ton trucks).
The event is also open to all trucks that are civilian in nature, 25 years old or older.
The info (design) for this year's shirt should be updated sometime this week (waiting for the graphic from the designer--it features a photo of Rickf's M151 fording the river that we took year before last...).
September 1-5, 2011 are the dates.
See http://www.gravesmountaintrailrides.com for info.

Re: Graves Mountain Labor Day Weekend Trailrides in Virginia
I just got a copy of the image that we are going to use on the back of the shirt from the young lady who is doing them for us. She did a tracing of a photo we took two years ago of Rick fording one of the rivers...
Since I'm having issues with posting the photo (I'm not on my regular computer), I'll send it to Rick for posting...

Re: Graves Mountain Labor Day Weekend Trailrides in Virginia
Still plenty of time for folks to get registered... But the event is fast approaching (it's next month)...
We added about five more miles to the trail system last week, so that brings us up to eight or so more miles of trails than we had last year... All of what we did last week is very M151 friendly.

The trailrides and rally are almost here
I'll be on site Wednesday night so that I can put up signage and open some gates before folks start to roll in on Thursday.
Even though the website has a registration deadline on it, you can still drop in and register at the gate (although we won't be able to guarantee that you'll get a shirt...)...
Reports from the area are that neither the earthquake nor the hurricane did much damage, so all we have to do now is cross our fingers for smooth travels for everyone.

I had no power for two days so I am running behind, I will be there on Thurs. as planned but will most likely crash as soon as I get there. Been a LOOOOOONG week already.

I, hopefully, will have recovered from my drive up and from getting things ready (running the weedeater over your campsite...), so I'll be ready to ground guide for you when you get near.
Re: Graves Mountain Labor Day Weekend Trailrides in Virginia
Got a cb hooked up in the jeep but I am also bringing the military radios. I hope to find out if they actually work.

10-4 good buddy. What's your handle on the CB Rick? I'm guessing "Grumpy" or "Old Fart"

I went by Ridgerunner back when I was into CB's. I have a feeling that where I am going there will be a couple of Ridgerunners.
Yep, 10-4 good buddy, looks like we got us a convoy.
This ought to be good because the radio I have has had a "little" work done on it.
I will be off the forums until get back on the 6th. Daughter is house sitting. I told her to stay away from the computer. Yea right! Password locked it. She has my .45 so we will see how many holes I have in the house when I get home. Actually she is quite good with it.

I can guarantee the Delaware will not be fit for boating the rest of the season. There will be trees, firewood, docks, small cars and everything else floating in there.
