Re: Period uniform question
Wandering is SOP in this industry. I fully understood that a minimum one hour conversation was part of the price of any parts I purchased from Jack Tomlin. Payment in full before I saw the part. At least we answer the question first here.

Wandering posts?
Hey I think this is what he was asking about- a period US Army uniform, circa 1969.
I have some more if that would help! LOL

'Think Bill was inquiring about uniforms worn from the mid 70s to about 1980. that's a neat photo just the same.

Re: Period uniform question
Rick, one reason I am smiling may be that I had just finished with my VN tour a few months before.
As you may be able to tell if you know your uniforms, I was a Major General's Aide de Camp. The photo was taken at the American Embassador's residence in Rio de Janerio, Brazil 1969/1970 which may be another reason I was smiling-
One other explanation is that I ended my 7 years in the Army down there and thus avoided a second and third tour flying gunships in VN.

Great picture Captain. I thought he was interested in Cammie's or "BDU'S" or "fatigues". Heck I don't know.

Raymond, I like your animated figure and will need to find out how you put it on your posts.raymond wrote:I always heard the military doesn't have any "perfectly good airplanes". Re: Period uniform question
Was thinking about this, this morning and thought it might be a good thread to post on seeing how it was originally an inquiry about dessert uniforms from the 80s.
When the six color "chocolate chip" camo uniform was standard issue, I know they made boonie hats with wide brims to be worn with, but has anyone seen a real issue patrol cap in that pattern? I've seen plenty of commercial copies and plenty of the later three color dessert pattern but, I've never actually seen a real-deal six color dessert camo patrol cap. Or the USMC cover in choc chip for that matter.

Re: Period uniform question
I've seen boonie caps and helmet covers but, since you mentioned it, I don't recall ever seeing any other head gear in the chocolate-chip pattern.
[edit]
Guess I spoke too soon. But, given the rank of the individuals in the photo, I think we can still say they were pretty rare.

Re: Period uniform question
aren't those guys Air Force?
the velcro, leather name tags and AF master pilot wings on the BG would seem to indicate it, no?
