I would like more information on the side mount antenna, which I think is the AB-15, What mount to the mutt is used with this and on the picture the antenna looks longer than normal, what part number is the antenna and mount?

Any information would be very helpful and this side mount antenna.

The auxilliary radio antenna (side mount) information is:

The AB-15/GR Antenna consisted of a AB-15 base (2 piece ball insulator), MS-116A, MS-117A, and MS-118A whip sections, UG-273 cable adapter, SC-DL-48528 side mount bracket, and SC-C-446109 brush guard.

Thank you for the information, Do you know of any good source to purchase the antenna sections, I can find the AB-15 and the mount but cannot find the extra antenna sections. The AB-15s that I have found on Ebay looks like the antenna is only 16 inches long, Do the ms 116 117 118 antenna sections screw into that?

The AB-15 mount on mine has a short, roughly 6-10" rubber section on it and then you add the sections of antenna as needed.

You can also use the top section of the fiberglass antenna.

I am having one heck of a time finding the mount and brush guard for the AB-15. Does anybody know of a source to purchase these mounts. Also is this the mount in the pictures of davegargiulo m151 in this post. I can buy the AB-450G mount and it looks alot like the one in the picture. What is the difference and can I make it work.

Any help or pictures will be greatly appreciated to attach this AB-15 to my mutt.

You are confusing me here. The components mentioned by Moose are the ones you see in the post you mentioned. A couple posts back you said you could get a AB-15 mount but were having problems finding the mast sections. Now you are talking about a AB-450G which would be an antenna base for a different antenna, I don't know which. Why don't you stick with the AB-15? The AB-450G probably will not work with the AB-15 side mount. I do see one on E-bay on a 75633 side mount. I can't say if it will work or not. Maybe Rainman will chime in here, he was a radio guy back when radios had tubes.

Let me clarify hopefully, I do have a new AB-15 antenna with the correct antenna sections, will be delivered tomorrow from Saturn Surplus, what I do need is the side mount to install on a M151, what I cannot find yet is the correct side mounts part numbers sc-dl-48528 and the brush guard sc-l-446109, but what I need to know if I cannot find the correct mounts will the ab-450 work or what are my options.

Please excuse my lack of knowledge on the M151, I am new to this vehicle and I am trying to make it as correct as possible but this vehicle will be more go and not so much show and I am trying to make it look like the one that was posted in this thread from davegargiulo.

All help will be greatly apprecitated.

I will have to let someone else weigh in on this but I don't think the 450G mount is as narrow at the bottom. If it is not it will not fit along the cutout for the wheel opening. The mount for my AB-15 antenna is on the left rear corner, it is a very early M-151 design.

AB-450 Mount Bracket accepts 2" diameter antenna bases such as the AB-15 or MP-65. Mounts to flat surfaces.

Might be able to be used on an early 151.

Do you think with some minor modifications to this mount I can make it work. I cannot find the correct mounts anywhere, unless someone on list has a source that I cannot find online.

Hey steeltub1,
Your getting some great responses from the members here. If you can't find the proper mount, just wait till you CAN find it. If you want to do this right, looking for a few weeks will be worth it and throwing it together with modifications and non original pieces parts will be spotted by the purists from a mile away at 50 MPH. Keep your eyes open, look at MV shows, poke around in the forums like this one, you'll locate what you need in a short time. Re-engineering the wrong mount for the purpose of getting it done in a hurry will be a disappointment the first time somebody points it out to you while your displaying your jeep. Drill a few holes in your tub in the wrong place and see how difficult it is to correct when the right mount falls into your lap. Everything your looking for is sitting out there waiting for you to find it. Even if you fool the experts, you'll know it's the wrong mount and won't be happy with it for very long. Patience my friend, patience. Slow down and do it right the first time. Have you checked out Haney Electronics, Columbia Electronics, Fair Radio, Pvt Jarhead, or on ebay for Austin Aviation aka Beltfed or Bernie aka delawarelister? These are easy parts to find and there are tons of them floating around.

I just want to ad that the AB-15 antenna is a receiver antenna and not a transmit antenna. It is for the R-442 receiver radio. Most vehicles that had the AB-15 would also have the 1725 on the right rear corner for the RT-524 or RT-246 transceiver. As Rainman said, slow down. This stuff is all out there and is not hard to find.
