Hi,
I think the fuel pump on my a2 is not working and I would like to replace it with an electric one. I have 12 volts available and need to know which one you guys believe would work best. I think NAPA sells some that have ajustable pressure.
What pressure should the pump be set to?
Additionally I've had nothing but problems with the zenith carb eventhough it was completely rebuild. I read somewhere on the board that a ford downdraft carb works great but the make and model carb was not listed. Can someone provide me with that info.
Sincerely,
Fred

Re: fuel pump
why not just put a mechanical pump back on it? I just rebuilt my A2 pump. cost me a total of $45 after shipping.
I just switched my Mighty Mite back to the mechanical pump. I will sell ya the electrical pump off of it if you like.

Re: fuel pump
You need between 3 -5 pounds pressure on the pump. Most of the small pumps are set for that. NAPA also has that pump in 24 volt. The carb you are talking about is an experiment one of our Pakistani members is trying. Any downdraft from around a 1.5 - 2.0 liter engine would work but you are going to have to fabricate an intake adapter, throttle and choke linkages and fuel lines.

You can run a mechanical pump from a mid 1960's Dodge slant six engine. That is what I am running. I think it cost me less than 15 dollars. Only thing is, it does not have the vent that goes back to the air cleaner, so no deep water fording.
