Rare sighting

Unread post by sarmadq » March 5th, 2009, 4:56 am

A couple of very rare sightings, sorry they are not M151 related to that extent.

1) Saurer 2DMs, six of them until recently used by the Intl Red Cross in the relief efforts of the Oct 2005 earthquake. These massive things were an extremely rare sight to see. Sold further by the bidder at $6,300 a piece, one has been converted to a water tanker, one into a crane & the rest sit nicely under trees till their fate is decided.
The interesting thing to see was the massive winch at the back, capable of pulling the vehicle out, even from the front. The cable ran all the way to the front parallel to the chassis & into roller catchers on the front bumpers.
The white color has just been painted over the OD green & at many places has pealed off to reveal a perfect paint job underneath.

Till yesterday, I didn't know they were still made & that too in the same shape. Guess somethings never change :)

2) An H1 seen rarely roaming, rather ruling the roads. Grabbed a shot parked on the curb. There are quite a few, but seen seldom.

.....You gotta know when to hold 'em
Know when to fold 'em
Know when to walk away, Know when to Run !
You don't count your money, sitting at the table
There'll be time enough for counting
When the deal is Done !......
