hopin some of y'all can give some information on this.
It’s been a time but I recall doin an engine rebuild that was overbore for the build. The amount (size) of the overbore was stamped in the top of the piston.
As I recall .010 or .020 or .030 etc.
Question: has anyone rebuilt using the pistons and rings that are the US surplus for the M151? If ya have
we’re the oversized pistons stamped on top to indicate the
amount of overbore ?

The NOS pistons I used were marked no top.

I have never seen regular replacement pistons that were not marked with the oversize on the top of the piston. The exception being high end, high performance pistons that have very high compression and any marks can cause detonation.

Same here. I have a M38 block rebuilt in 1957, which was bored over, and rebuilt with marked pistons.
