Prep for a show

Unread post by sarmadq » February 16th, 2009, 3:55 am

Hey all,

My MUTT's been selected for the Vintage and Classic Car show, to be held on 22nd Feb. I wanted to know what all should I do to get the rig really show worthy.

The criteria was strict & I got lucky being selected over a Willys MB (the owner had painted it in a glossy finish)

The VCCCP usually has cars in it & I know I wont be winning in any catergory but since its gonna be there, Its got to be noticed.
The selection committe was really appreciative of the original paint job, should I try to polish it up or no ?

Any & all tips would be highly appreciated.

Shall post pictures of the show once its held.

Not knowing the criteria for their choosing your vehicle makes it hard to give advice. I also don't know if your country had different paint schemes. Over here the correct paint would not have been as glossy and the wheel hubs and power outlet would match the body. The vehicle serial number would be on the hood and unit numbers would be on the bumper. I am guessing that you had to send pictures to be picked for the parade so they must have liked what they saw. In that case I would wash it and go.
Have fun! :D

Well, its not a military parade to start off with and the criteria basically is to get originality within the vintage/classic car. Nothing off-market, no swooping up, mods & hot-rodism.

As for the red painted parts, thats the scheme for the military here to mark all key areas. I cant keep the original markings like the unit # etc once decommissioned, so I just put on the model and make on.
I know my paint job is a bit glossier than what it is. Going to take care of that with 'nato green' this summer & stick to all parts being the same color.

I'll just stick to a good wash for this show.

Are the front seats stock? They look different from mine.

No way are those stock! How dare he run seats that appear to offer lateral support :D Frankly I like 'em though. I think that is one sweet ride.

  No they are not stock and I don't like em. The seat guy messed up & tired to be extra smart. Gonna have them re-made to original specs & put on canvas. This darn thing gets tushy burning hot in the sun.
