Ben Hur trailer
I live in a smaller town in Southern Bavaria, small enough that there is, between all the villas of the rich folks working at BMW, Siemens and Audi, some agriculture going on. In contrast to the rich guys in town, the farmers seem to be a little on the low end of the scale. So their tractors are not the fanciest and their trailers are well worn. Up to this very sorry example.
I walked by the trailer many times, but today took a picture. Could not find a military one but there is a German data plate correctly identifying it as a Ben Hur and says it was made in 1943 Seems like there is even some original marking left It is only a trailer and has nothing to do with 151, but I like seeing stuff like that. I have a feeling however that 20 years ago, there was much more around and I was seeing former military stuff on the road, pretty much nothing anymore.

Re: Ben Hur trailer
About 15 years ago scrap prices went through the roof and a LOT of old stuff just vanished into China on scrap ships. I have pictures of mountains of shredded metal being loaded onto Chinese ships on the Delaware river going there.

Yes,
A couple of years ago I talked to the owner of a scrapyard in France. He clearly said he gets more money for scrap metal than he gets from a potential buyer/restorer of what he had. I guess they are all gone by now.

Re: Ben Hur trailer
there where hundreds of GMCs but also many Dodge, including WC-56, a couple of Half Trucks, even one DUKW. Some very rare french jeeps, the Delahaye. The US trucks were all still showing their markings and stars, so apparently they were never used by anyone else after the US Army gave them away.
Ran when parked I guess...

Re: Ben Hur trailer
I just checked, place seems to be still there:
https://jeep-dodge-gmc.com/smi/
Looking at the place on Google Maps, most of the stuff is however gone since I was there 9 years ago.

Re: Ben Hur trailer
Well, seeing all that (and hearing all that) pretty much ruined my day.
Re: Ben Hur trailer
Why? You still have your "secret" 7,000 acre warehouse/wonderfield area that has all that and more. Including complete aircraft engines ON test stands!!!
