When I first saw it I thought man, That is a good price! Then I realized it was an auction with 5 days to go. Curious to see where it goes. It is missing the cushions and some of the other stuff, it appears the top is there. Looks like the motor is still sealed, as long as it has been inside there should be no issues with the engine and transmission being full of water from condensation.

Most of them where stored outside. Mine was and this one looks quite similar.

For whatever reasons they were coming with NOS tops but no seat cushions at all.

The under hood pictures are probably a good reference; Wasn't someone looking for a few pictures of that recently?
The camo pattern stencil on windshield frame is curious too. Is that something from the factory or specific to Barstow jeeps?

The outlines for the camo pattern are factory. One of the manuals tells about what color goes where.

As a matter of fact those outlines were applied by the USMC at Barstow. The “ Barstow” 151s were originally painted in OD from the factory. At the MSLC Barstow there were oversprayed in forest green and the outlines applied. Some 151s were actually finished in the 4 color camo.

Interesting that the S/N is 510348 and they are claiming it's a 79. Mine is S/N 510184 and I registered it as a 78 based on the horn date. Either way its pretty cool these vehicles are 164 apart.

Not sure if anyone knows the production numbers per month for that contract batch but it's probably safe to assume they were both rolling out of the plant within weeks of each other.

Mine did not come with that paperwork shown in the ad. So if I understand this correctly, that 151 was pulled out of storage in 1985? That would mean at that time the USMC had decided that 151s are obsolete and no longer needed? But they where still sitting in Barstow for another 20 years until sold?

Btw, I have the information that the dealerships in Europe payed 500usd each. The company in the Netherlands where I got mine imported around 150 of them. When I got mine for 7.500, about 50 were still available.

It is up to $14,600.00 and the reserve is still not hit yet! 5 hours to go. I am not going to remember to look at it so someone else may want to check.

$20,100 with about 8 min left and reserve not met, i'm thinking reserve is 23 or 30. I spoke to someone that had one about 8 years ago and they would not let it go then for less than 30. Considering how many might be left 25-30 seems reasonable. Thing is do you use it or perserve it for another 10-20 years??
