Re: Getting ready to fight coronavirus
On a lighter note, news came out today that "In Louisville all restaurants and bars are closed except for drive through or carry out."
Wow! A bar with a drive thru is....
(wait for it)

.....a Novel idea!
I'm sorry. I couldn't resist...

I'll bet they have some serious guard rails at the drive-through window!

Drive-Thru Daiquiris. We have them in just about every town. Been that way as long as I can remember.

Drive thru...park...drive thru again...park...
Well, you get the idea.
But what are the rules? Do you just do that until you can't drive thru anymore?

More lighthearted humor..
Interesting fact. The letters in the word Corona can be rearranged to spell Raccoon.
Resident Evil fandom wants to know if Wuhan is the real Raccoon City.
(I'm beginning to think this lockdown is giving too much time to think about stuff like that..)

You do it until you hit enough things that the car just won't go no more!

Re: Getting ready to fight coronavirus
Speaking of cars that won't go anymore... I came out of the Dollar Store today (where I went to get a couple of ice cube trays) and discovered the suburban's right rear tire was low. Like, really low. So, I drove across the street to Discount Tire and found my low tire had two screws in it. (With my back it's easier to let the youngsters crawl around looking for screws and nails. The fella gave me the routine about how if they couldn't fix it they couldn't put it back on and would I like to discuss buying a new tire?
(Clearly, you don't know who you're dealing with, kid!)
I had them air it up, and I returned to the house where I have another complete set of wheels and tires and threw one of 'em in the back. Drove back to the store and said, if you can't fix it, put the other one on. Beaten, somehow they managed to repair it without any further dramas. Happily, per their policy, no charge for tire repairs. Can't argue with that.
Anyway, it was nice to be dealing with normal problems for a moment rather than trying to figure out where to get certain foodstuffs to restock the larder.
By the way, the Dollar Store yielded a few basics I had overlooked. Who would have thought?
Cheers,
TJ

Re: Getting ready to fight coronavirus
For screws and nails, I usually use a plug and fix it myself, without even taking the tire off the car. Some people say they aren't for permanent use, but I've never had one fail, even after 10's of thousands of miles and years of use.

Re: Getting ready to fight coronavirus
Things are getting serious here, everything is closed and I am running low on food and toiletries. This is flat out crazy! I do have a case of MRES but they are probably not all that good. With my health conditions I just don't really want to chance going out if I don't have to but it is starting to look like I am going to have to start scrounging for food soon. Or hunting it! I am totally amazed that the governor is all about shutting everything down but has not put any thought into what the common person is going to do for supplies. They have not made any offers to help out with restocking stores from emergency supplies or federal supplies. Well, it will be interesting when I go to the stores wearing my paint respirator which is a hell of a lot more protective than those paper masks. I guarantee that it will stop any virus from getting through. Doesn't mean I won't end up with it on my body somewhere and miss washing it off but my chances will be better than most. The looks I get should be priceless. Ask me if I care.

By the way, I looked on Amazon for Ramen Noodles, Gone. I figured the millennials would not know about Ramen noodles. I am thinking it was the older folks that grabbed all of them. I DO have a case of chicken canned dog food.............................................

in a way I am happy to see that on the other side of the pond same type of idiots seem to exist. I was afraid only Germans would buy toilet paper in wholesale quantities for no apparent reason.
I had a flight booked this weekend to CA to show my GF where my second home is. Well, seems like we will sit on the balcony for the next two weeks instead...

Don't know how much longer I will be on here, I think my computer has caught it, it's old.
Re: Getting ready to fight coronavirus
here in washington, governor nitwit has shut most of the state down, stopping just short of curfews and ration cards. difficult to find any paper products, or cleaning supplies. the visiting nurses association, and the senior center have both begun delivering lunches to people who have trouble getting out, or those with compromised immune systems. our county only has 2 cases, but people are carrying on as though the number was much higher. i am cynical and suspicious about it all.
Re: Getting ready to fight coronavirus
just went back and read all the notes. sounds like ken is getting the worst deal so far. hate to hear that.
Re: Getting ready to fight coronavirus
You just wanted to bring her over here and scare the hell out of her doing burnouts in the goat! Sitting on the balcony is probably the safest place to be right now, it is nuts over here at this point. I THINK I scored a case of toilet paper on Amazon for a decent price but no telling until it arrives at the door.Horst wrote: ↑March 18th, 2020, 11:49 amin a way I am happy to see that on the other side of the pond same type of idiots seem to exist.
