Re: M151 Rally Possibilities??
I have done my share of hitchhiking in the 70's. used to hop the local freight to the unemployment office four towns up and back but always had that itch to do the Hobo thing across the county. Back then you would just get you ass beat buy the train bulls, now you get thrown in jail for a long time for train hopping. And I am far to old to catch a train anyway.

Re: M151 Rally Possibilities??
I'm going to take this upon myself to organize and set up. I will build an itinerary with all the details and post it here. This wouldn't take place until next summer if all goes well.
Re: M151 Rally Possibilities??
Remember that the cross country MVPA convoy is going on right now and a lot of guys save up for years to go on that so any of them may well be broke after this year. I know they just had an accident the beginning of the week that took out three or four vehicles. I will do what I can to help promote it but as far as going I doubt I will be able to between health issues and the fact that I am living on a very small pension and disability plus still paying a mortgage and living in the most expensive state in the continent for taxes and insurance.

Re: M151 Rally Possibilities??
I received some pictures of a damaged A2 from the convoy. Looks like it hit the back of a much bigger truck. The sheet metal didn't do so well...

Re: M151 Rally Possibilities??
That was part of a four vehicle accident. From what I understand one drivers foot slipped off the brake onto the gas and then he pushed even harder thinking he was pushing the brake.
Something you have to consider with these ralleys and convoys is not only the vehicles but also the drivers. You have 70-80-90 year old vehicles and drivers to match. Are they all up to the task? Especially on days like we have had recently. 90-100 degree days and no air conditioning and an 85-90 year old driver is recipe for trouble.

Re: M151 Rally Possibilities??
Damn. Purely coincidence that I posted the above picture. Watched the videos and see that Mr. Emdee's was one of the ones banged up by the A2 as well. Sorry to see. Looks like the offending vehicle directly behind him in the pic. So it looks like...

Re: M151 Rally Possibilities??
Yeah, I saw that too. That sucks. I am not buying the story of my foot slipped off the brake and hit the gas (keep your distance folks). I wish we had a G838 (M-151 member, who was there) post some video's or pictures of more M-151's. I only saw one M-151 in the video . I wish I could retire and do fun things like this. Work sucks.

Re: M151 Rally Possibilities??
I have talked to someone who was there and talked to the guy who caused the accident. It happened just as he said and was proven out already. Do not start any conspiracy theories on here or this thread goes away in a hearbeat! Here is what I said in the beginning "That was part of a four vehicle accident. From what I understand one drivers foot slipped off the brake onto the gas and then he pushed even harder thinking he was pushing the brake." I was wrong to put that out there without having first hand info and now that I have it I apologize for saying that. The guy that caused it had saved up for ten years to do this convoy and has dropped out because of this even though it was offered to get him up and running. None of us were there so it is not our place to pass judgement on what happened. He admitted fault and that is all that is needed.
End of that subject.

Re: M151 Rally Possibilities??
I asked that the comments about the accident on the MVPA convoy end on this thread. I have deleted two since I said that. This thread was started by a member who is interested in putting together a rally for M151's. This has nothing to do the MVPA convoy. The person that caused the accident obviously feels bad about it and I am sure the rest would prefer not to be reminded of it every time they look at a forum. I left the items that were posted about the accident here for people to reference and follow the links. That is it. If you cannot just do that I will also delete them. If someone wants to start a new thread all about that accident then go ahead, I think it would be in bad taste but I will not stop it unless it gets out of hand.
