M151 collection pictures
I finally figured out how to post pictures on the forum so I thought I would share some of the m151s in my collection. Now that I am looking at the preview it looks like the pictures are too big and you have to click on them to see the full size pictures. Any questions or possible info about these is always welcomed. I always like to learn more or share what I do know. Thanks
I’m not exactly sure of the year on this one, it is an uncut pre emission AM General a2 so I assume 1972 or 73. None of the body tags are left on it though
I’m also not sure of the year of this one, the data plate says 1963, but I know that is incorrect. This one is a half cut, but does still have the BUDD tag on it
These were recently acquired and I don’t know much about them besides they are both Ford a2s and FAVs and they are said to be exactly as they came out of the military except for being welded back together. They were both half cuts and the one with the hard top looks to be a 1970 because of the front fenders. These pictures are at the previous owner’s property because I have not taken any new ones yet
This one is a long term a1 project. It has had a full frame put under it for converting it to a 6x6. It was that way when I bought it and it is really too modified to reverse it so I will probably just weld the rear suspension and body extension on and finish it as a 6x6

Re: M151 collection pictures
Thanks guys. The son of the guy who I bought the 2 FAVs from does demolition derby racing and that’s one of the trucks he uses for that. On the green army a2, I plan to put the correct front bumper on it and repaint it (the paint looks good in pictures and from a distance, but is really in need of a fresh coat), is 24087 the correct paint? Would tan be authentic for that era? I think the tan looks nice, but I want it to be authentic

I can see what a FAV is but what is it? What does it stand for, who used them, where and when?Horst wrote:I have never seen a FAV in real life, you have 2 of them, amazing!

I got lucky to find them. I was originally looking at another MUTT that this guy had, but ended up with these, a mule, and a m893 ambulanceHorst wrote:I have never seen a FAV in real life, you have 2 of them, amazing!
Re: M151 collection pictures
FAV stands for fast attack vehicle, it was mostly the marine corps that used them from my understanding and from what I read there was also a few modified for the army for Desert Stormkmam wrote:I can see what a FAV is but what is it? Thanks, but I already have an army bumper in the parts stash and need the marine bumper for the 6x6 project Jeep. If I find one in my searching I’ll pm you about itacudanut wrote:I'll trade you my Army Bumper for the Marine one. Thanks, Mike

Interesting. Pretty unique beast - can we get some more detailed photos showing all the mods, the interior and fittings?

Re: M151 collection pictures
Once I get over there to the shop I will take some more pictures. One of them is still in the box truck so I won’t be able to get great pictures of it, but I will try to get some. It will probably be few days before I can get over there, but I will make sure to take the pictures and post them. From my research and what I was informed of when I purchased them these 2 were army FAVs then they were given to the marine corps force recon and then around 2000 or 2001 they were cut in half and sold.
