Re: Ford A-2
According to the Wiki here on G838.org, Ford only made M151A2s in 1970 and 1971. All subsequent M151A2 production was by AMG

Re: Ford A-2
Thats correct, AMG won the contract for the subsequent A2's in 71, so 72-80 model years were theirs.

The one on E-Bay isn't mine I just found it while surfing. The link is posted on the for sale section. Sorry for the confusion.
Re: Ford A-2
Mine is a Ford A2 date of delivery 3-71!!!!!the hood number is 02JM4170 and from Ken's informations was made in 1970!!!!Sooooo am I lucky that I have one of them?????How rare is those models???Anyone knows the number of Fords mutts????
Re: Ford A-2
Mine is a Ford A2 with a delivery date of 2-71. The hood number is 02LJ3471. The first two digits (02) indicate a 1/4 ton vehicle. The last two (71) was the year delivered. The middle 4 characters are the individual registration. (LJ34). Your hood number, since it ends in 70, and also since the characters precede mine, is pretty definately from 1970 as Ken has said. Did you get that from the hood or from the data plate?baios wrote: Mine is a Ford A2 date of delivery 3-71!!!!!the hood number is 02JM4170 and from Ken's informations was made in 1970!!!!Sooooo am I lucky that I have one of them?????How rare is those models???Anyone knows the number of Fords mutts????

Re: Ford A-2
How rare are Ford A-2's and is it worth buying even though it was a demilled mutt? It's a 4000 mile round trip for me. Tempting especially with all the extra stuff. What do you all think?
Re: Ford A-2
I don't think they're all that rare compared to the AMG's... its probably about 50-50. The Fords were surplused off before the newer AMG's, so more got out either uncut or just half cut . The newer AMG's went out when they were crushing the bodies so the number of existing survivors is probably about the same, even though AMG built a lot more of them.m-11 wrote:How rare are Ford A-2's and is it worth buying even though it was a demilled mutt? Is it worth buying? Thats something you would have to decide. I think they're all worth saving, but theres only so much one can do. Value wise, the A2's generally bring more than the A1's, uncut always brings more than rewelded, and the cost to acquire a mutt of any type seems to be on the rise. I haven't seen any noticible difference in prices based on manufacturer.
When I bought mine a couple years ago, a nice one went for $4-5K, now they seem to go for $8-9K.
One thing for sure, there's fewer of them around every year and they're not making any more of em.
Just my two cents worth, I'm sure you'll get a few more opinions...lol
