Re: Repair Piece for Acudanut
That repair piece does not look like it is correct for that area. It is to tall. On the original paperwork if that cross member is rotted the vehicle is to be scrapped and there were no repair parts made for it. I am not saying we should scrap the vehicle but I am curious where that part came from? Is it actually for that cross member?

I don't know, the height looks about right to me once he has it placed correctly. Looks like this piece but they list it as front frame?????

That piece fits great when seated correctly. Just missing one side. Bought this from e-bay just now.

Red River has them.
Re: Repair Piece for Acudanut
and in other news, Acudanut now has an extra drivers side piece.
Just off the top of my head but if Guy doesn't have one of these to copy yet, maybe you could do some horse trading.

Re: Repair Piece for Acudanut
I don't think that piece was made to structurally repair the rear cross member, tho I think it can be done with a little modifying, as Rick mentioned, the manual said scrap the body if the cross member is rusted or damaged.
Re: Repair Piece for Acudanut
Ham, I see this image you posted... looks like instructions sheets with it. Do they say anything about the pieces?

Re: Repair Piece for Acudanut
I have the large print instructions I got from Fil, I will see if I can find them tomorrow.
Re: Repair Piece for Acudanut
Yes, I now have an almost complete extra repair kit (any takers) lol. I bought 2, thinking I was getting a good deal. One kit only had one rear "cap". The other kit had none.
Anyway, as Rick and Hambone said " On the original paperwork if that cross member is rotted the vehicle is to be scrapped and there were no repair parts made for it.
My 2 cent response is:....Welding a Mutt back together, that was cut in half was meant for scrap also. We all have seen M1s, M1a1 and M1a2 all mixed and welded back together. I am just trying to save one. Anyway. the body is perfect. Cheers.

Re: Repair Piece for Acudanut
Not saying don't fix it, I just want to clarify if those repair parts are actually for that cross member since technically they were never made. I don't want people saying that "the guys on the g838 say this is a rear cross member repair part" when in fact it may not be. I just want to be sure the info on here is accurate.

Re: Repair Piece for Acudanut
Roger that. I want to add that this metal replacement is not being used as a cap. It's actually thicker than the original metal.
Re: Repair Piece for Acudanut
Well, Looking at that picture of Murray's kit that Hambone put up it looks like you have the right parts since I see the front cross member parts so there are no other cross members shaped like that. I believe the one for the transmission is a partial if I remember correctly. I am curious to look at the sheet and see what they say about that part since the sheets I have seen in the past say to scrap it and get a replacement body if that cross member is rotted. I can't find any of the several copies of that sheet that I have.

Re: Repair Piece for Acudanut
Well, if there is a need for it, someone will make it. My rear frame repair kit will save my mutt from scrap. I can't believe I am the only one here using this. ????
