Manual for M416 Trailer with juice brake
Hello Forum!
Now that my A2 is finished I will restore/repair my matchning trailer. However it is the M416 with the later juice brake. I could not find a manual for working/adjusting the brake.
Can someone point me in the right direction? Which dot brake fluid to use? Or the military silicone one?
Also, when were the brakes introduced?
Thank you in advance!

That is the M-416A1 trailer. The brake fluid would have been the DOT 5 originally. You can change it as long as you completely empty out all of the old fluid from the master cylinder, lines and wheel cylinders. I will look through my manuals and see if I have one for the A1 trailers but the brakes will work on the same principle as the mutt.

You might find this useful as well...but maybe not.
Sidebar comment - "Johnson" refers to Johnson Furnace Company out of Bellevue, Ohio....my home town. They were making these when I was a kid. they must have been loading them right onto railroad cars because I never saw a single one around town!
Cheers,
TJ

the manual you need is available for download on this website. Go to the G838 Manuals section at the top of this page, then go down to TM9-2330-251-14&P and right-click it. It's around 4Mb.
Unless someone has tinkered with your braking system, it should have BFS (Silicone) brake fluid already in the system....but test it to be sure.
Does your trailer have it's dataplate still? I'd be very interested in what it says..... for my ongoing research....I have a handful of M416A1 trailer details already.
Ken
Kind regards....

Re: Manual for M416 Trailer with juice brake
Hello Ken,
thank you for the link. I was not smart enough to look right in the mabual section but googled.
The trailer is a Parkhurst and according to the papers it was built in 1963. However it was overhauled in the 1980s before it was phased out and somebody bought it. Condition is very good but the
previous owner has cut a tail in. I need to weld it back in place and then give it some fresh paint and see for the brakes.

Hello OtB....
that dataplate isn't the original.....but it is a Parkhurst trailer and that 781 number is a correct one for this model of trailer. However, it would have been delivered Nov-Dec 1978.....definitely not 1963.
It's a nice-looking trailer !

I have a hitch for mine that is not installed yet if you need a picture of what you need to look for. You are missing a LOT of stuff there.

Rick, I had all the parts. I took the time this week end and put everything together and gave it a proper paint job.

Right down to the Porti-Potti WITH a door mat! Now THAT is class!!! In your first pic I was going to comment on the fact that the work area was not interlocking pavers as I see all over the European countries and then you show these pics and there they are. Trailer looks real good.

Re: Manual for M416 Trailer with juice brake
Dear Rick, thank you for the compliments!
I still need to work on the wiring and will then send pictures of the complete setup together with the A2.
But what do you mean with the pavers? I am not a natural english speaker and do not understand this part...

Stone blocks from which the parking lot is made
Steinblöcke, aus denen der Parkplatz gemacht wird
Over here we call those blocks "paver blocks" or "paver stones"
