Spark Plugs
Hey guys...whats the least expensive route for the 2243 spark plugs?
Re: Spark Plugs
You need 2245 unless there is some reason you want the 43's. You have to search around but around 8-10 bucks each is about the last price i saw.

Re: Spark Plugs
Thanx Rick. typo on my part 2245 is what i wanted.
Re: Spark Plugs
As you probably know, there are adapters available allowing you to use a civilian, unshielded plug. They enclose the plug and provide the correct threaded connection at the top. They were designed by the Army I believe. I actually bought a set many years ago only to decide that is is still easier to just buy 2245s...
On top of that I doubt that many of the used 2245s are past their service life. I blast them and if the electrodes and the insulator still look good, why not putting them back in. Spark plugs for aircraft engines are serviced the same way.

Re: Spark Plugs
Here is an update for everyone. Autolite has ceased production of all military plugs. I talked to the Autolite Manager of their Technical Library section who confirmed it. He check their on hand stock of Autolite military plugs and the warehouses were at zero balance. The Champion equivalent of the 2245 is their 517. It currently is running about $24.00 a plug. Buy the Autolite's when ever you can! Kevin.

Re: Spark Plugs
These are the old fashioned pre-rare earth metal spark plugs. Those old plugs used to last at least 30,000 miles before you changed them. So I see no reason why they shouldn't last at least that long in the M151. What I'm trying to say is that a lot of spark plugs get thrown out prematurely. I've got a set I've been running since 1998, (excepting the short period I ran a set of home made standard plug adapters) with over 10,000 miles on them, and they show little to no wear.

Re: Spark Plugs
If you have a spark plug cleaner and use glass bead in it then they will last a long time. Probably longer than you are going to own the vehicle. How many people here drive their 151 10,000 miles a year? Even old VW's got 25,000 out of a set of plugs and they were the worst on plugs due to high head temps.
Just curious Bob, How many did you get?
