Re: 1977 A2 Transforming to USAF
Well, this is a crummy picture and I apologize. Just wanted everybody to know that Vin's former USMC MUTT, lovingly restored by a great American made it to Indiana safely. Yesterday I used it to shuttle people who flew into Grissom for breakfast from the flight line over to the Museum and back. They were literally lining up, on one occasion with five adults crammed into the back. Vietnam era veterans were especially grateful for the experience.
So I took just a minute to pose the truck in front of our Huey. Thanks Vin. You did an outstanding job that was appreciated in more ways than I can express.

Interesting find today. I got a replacement Early windshield in last week for the Willys project and I started light sanding to find some awfully pretty blue underneath. This windshield came from a huge surplus purchaser so I doubt it ever was in "bubba" hands.
I'll have a photo hopefully tonight if my phone decides to work.

Interesting, but I am wondering if maybe that is not glazing putty judging from where it is and the fact that right next to it you have sanded through and not hit any blue.

Very nice!
When you go to war, you go to war all the way. You don't go to war piecemeal.
You go, and you go to win.

I have an -A1 which has strata blue on almost all the body parts I have blasted, except the hood and parts from inside the engine compartment. Bottom color is red primer, then 24087 green, then blue, then MERDEC tan camo.
Tub ID tag is missing; data plate which came with the jeep (and used for registration) is US Navy.

Re: 1977 A2 Transforming to USAF
Prior to my retiring from the Navy in the late 90's, 32nd St was running a bunch of A2s as Security and station runabouts. They were all painted a blue very similar to the Strata Blue color.
Some people are too busy knowing it all to ever learn anything

Sorry, not giving up the plate; state vehicle registration is based on it. Can send pics if desired.rickf wrote:There is a guy on here looking for a Navy data plate. Artillerydan.
