sponson plate for R-442

Unread post by moose53 » October 15th, 2008, 7:29 pm

there is currently posted on epay a rare as hen's teeth sponson support plate for the R-442 Aux receiver. For new members who may not know, the radio mounts did not bolt directly to the fenders on m151's due to the weight of the radios and the thin sheet metal used on these jeeps. The sponson plates went between the mount and the fender to reinforce the mounting location. here's the link for epay:

Absolutely. And the fender is too narrow to mount the 442, with the bars for the top stowed in the down position, without this bracket. This one is a reproduction though. That said... I can't see that mattering much. However I'd like to think someone could reproduce this bracket here in the United States versus sourcing it from Italy.

tbanks, You would not happen to have any spare mounting kits with the bolts and supports for under the fenders would you?

Hey Tony Banks,

I was almost ready to go look to see if I had rec'd one from you when I bought the R-442 from you at Hallsville. I can now rest assured that I have one sitting in the parts room! Next time we get together I'll need to pick up another sugar scoop and a working MX-6707. Still looking for a PRR-9 if you run across one TB.
As for M151 radio stuff, tbanks has a boat load of stuff at good prices, with more coming in all the time.

Hey rick, Tony has small (6"X6") sealed boxes of GI hardware that he sells cheap that are chock full of military issue fine thread nuts and bolts, washers & lock washers, grommets, wire clamps, etc I mounted an RT-524 with a box and assembled one of my M-416 trailers mostly with the same box. Glad I stocked up on them at the Mid-Ohio and at Hallsville shows.

Might as well post a picture of the hardware here too.

This may show the entire inventory of the box, at least on the preview it did...
