RT-524

Unread post by kb0jyl » April 13th, 2008, 3:06 pm

Ok, lost the audio in my good RT-524. It transmits but no audio through the speaker. Yes, I checked the speaker, tried a good handset. Anyone have a schematic for the audio section or the whole radio?

Thanks
Steve

Steve, Do a search for Steve Haney on the 503. I know he is big into VN era radios. I have lost his contact info.

Thanks guys. That is what I like about this group, the team work is great on any mutt problems. Glad to have found this site.
Now if I could just find those pesky vacuum line brackets for the windshield. LOL

There is a very good website with all the overhaul manuals for the RT524 radios. They request a password, but will easily give you one.

http://royalsignals.org.uk/american.html

It is the most extensive collection of manuals I have seen so far. Anyone has anything similar ?

Rainman,

All of the audio in the 524 goes through the X Mode plug on the front panel as a part of the crypto installation. If this plug is loose or missing you'll get the symptons you're having.
