M151s in WWII!
Yes, it's true! I saw it in "In Harms Way", a movie from 1965, with John Wayne, Kirk Douglas and Henry Fonda. The jeep pulls up, and I see the door is WAY too big for a WWII GPW. Later on you see the distinctive horizontal slat grill. There is also a M38A1 in one scene. The M151s are throughout most of the movie, but there is a M38 or WWII jeep in a couple scenes.
A good movie to see a lot of familiar faces, but the technical consultant must have been an Air Force Reserve cook.

Re: M151s in WWII!
Figure a movie that came out in 4/65 had to be made in 64 at the latest, more likely 63. They were surplussing them out then? They were only 3 years old.

One M151 in particular had a 2C.... ID number. Back then, the military was probably on good terms with the movie industry. The movie also had a Japanese battleship firing 18" guns at US PT boats. Hmmm.

Re: M151s in WWII!
I see credit to the US Army in many of the films of the period. Usually under "Special thanks" I always thought the US Army provided vehicles and equipment. I believe that the Army felt it was good PR and Recruiting command supported the effort.
Re: M151s in WWII!
The Military (DoD) still does that (assist the film industry). The one stipulation is that the film must portray the Military in a positive light. As for M151s serving durning WWII. Remember that movie "in Harm's way" stared John Wayne and the duke could do what ever he wanted....Like make the sun rise over the South China sea (Green Berets) when it normally sets*.... I guess he was the Chuck Norris of his time? .

Re: M151s in WWII!
The movie, In Harm's Way, wasn't afraid to make full use of whatever the military allowed them to use and screen accuracy went right out the window.
With a little sleuthing, I found this had already been covered by the previous poster but with a little further investigation, I came across this little website which some of you may find interesting, if not useful.
