Re: M151A2 Restoration
If it were mine I would not butt weld the inside. You've already welded the outside and the backer plate (yes, diamond) over the back side will be plenty. It's thin material, no need to over stress the grain structure...

Ok your right I was not sure about that butt weld on the back. Guy Mr recovery pointed out that the passenger side has a bend in the frame but I cant see any on the drivers side would that be right?lpcoating wrote:If it were mine I would not butt weld the inside. Re: M151A2 Restoration
The drivers side of mine has much less of a inward bend that is just behind where the steering box mounts, you almost can't see it unless it is turned upside down but, it almost looks to me that it "is" from ruff treatment after it was stripped and pushed around or from sitting on it's side.

Re: M151A2 Restoration
I've only been in the garage about an hour over the past several weeks. My wife had day surgery on her foot and is down and out for several weeks. I spent all last weekend helping her around the house, getting ice for her foot, etc. I'm not sure who has it worse, her or me!RCA827 wrote:Guy have you had a chance to do some work of your own? Oh I understand .
Re: M151A2 Restoration
That is interesting, I never paid any attention to that. It looks like the whole drivetrain is offset.

I noticed that as well when I was cutting myself some floor mats. Both sides quite different due to the that tunnel shape.

Dan I have another cut front section for the drivers side frame here if you want it, no bend in it.Mr. Recovery wrote:The drivers side of mine has much less of a inward bend that is just behind where the steering box mounts, you almost can't see it unless it is turned upside down but, it almost looks to me that it "is" from ruff treatment after it was stripped and pushed around or from sitting on it's side.

Re: M151A2 Restoration
Just may take you up on that, I'll PM you later, I "had" the front 2 rails with the transmission cross mount that came out of the 4X4 Vega I built but, I scraped it when I moved here to Florida. Ya I know, you never need a part till you get rid of it!!
