Wheel Hub Removal

Unread post by Flyboy740 » May 26th, 2010, 9:57 pm

Question to everyone. I broke off one of my lug nut studs, (I know I over tightened it) and got that sick feeling as soon as I heard the snap. I got the replacement bolt and lug nut but can't figure out how to remove the lifting eye from the wheel. I don't want to strong arm it and break it also. Any suggestions? I did go to the 218-20 but maybe I'm too stupid to figure it out.

:) you just use a BFH and a brass drift on the ears of the lock ring, then put a round tire iron in the hole and it "should" come off. also, you can change them without pulling the hub if, you can get the brake drum off.

I can do that. I'm going to guess the thread will be counter clockwise? I seem to be able to break even a anvil with a rubber hammer......
