I recently tracked down an Encore in Florida thanks to a post here. Before seeing it, I got the price down to $11,000 for a 1997 brand new undriven red encore with black top, curtains, Encore tire cover, ROPS with under 200 original miles. Probably could get it for 9,500-10g with an onsite visit.
But then reality hit, I barely am in the US long enough to drive my cars and boats during my visits. I didn't go by to see it last week in the end as I knew I would buy it if I did. It is just too nice.....
I discussed with RickF who rightly loves these jeeps, and even he wondered if a new undriven one like it should perhaps be kept in that condition. I'll pass on it.
If anyone is interested it is in the Tampa area and is on consignment to a dealership. If it hasn't been sold by now it will be when the warm weather returns. A big car collector owns it and kept it in his collection.

when i just saw it again, I still want it. But old age wisdom rules.....

Top, you and RickF are more than welcome to any/all the encores...lol. To me, there is no reason to buy a fake mutt when the real deal can still be had. Apparently, so thought the consumers since they couldn't sell enough of them to stay in business... Now, if I just wanted something to go crashing through the woods with to avoid abusing my mutt, then maybe, but i think I'd rather even have a CJ for that... and Rick, I dont care how thick the metal is, its still a POS...

I am looking for another mutt to keep at my OBX place to use as a beach runner and to me an Encore would actually be a better fit than a pure 151 especially with the heavier steel and undercarrage. With the exception of the steering wheel I think that Red Encore is pretty cool and would fit the bill just right.
