Little trouble spot in the carb.

Unread post by vtdeucedriver » September 26th, 2009, 6:57 pm

Here is a question. I got a new carb a yr ago and its always done this but today on my 120 mile trip I messed with it on my interstate run of 60 miles. I got a little sweet spot on the throttle in 4th that is right at 50mph. I can feel it buck very slightly, much like getting in rough air behind a big truck. At 45 she travels fine until you nurse it up to 50. If you stay at that speed it will do it a bit. Push on the pedal and she takes off and really likes 55MPH!! Which is ok for the Mutt but the driver prefers 50 still. :D Any thoughts???

Have you played with the choke a little bit? Quite a few carbs seem to have this. Pulling just a little choke makes them run more even.

Oh yea its out a bit when I run it. Thing is, its ever so slight. Pulling it out a little more does not do anything. I usually only need to pull it out all the way for the morning start when its been a few days...........But on a MV weekend, I can find my sweet setting with the choke and leave it right there and she will start every time on the am start each day. It amazed a few mutt owners this yr at the rally.
