how does a MRC 83 look ?
My 151 used to be a radio truck. Before it was released for sales, all that equipment was removed. While I have no plans to put it back in that configuration, I would nevertheless like to know how it did look...

big radios
Geez, I've never seen one of those, and I was a radio guy.
Stacked 2 stories high and wall to wall. Just the rectifier,
added alternator, and separate regulator would add over
a hundred pounds under the hood. Nice research there

Thanks for the quick info !
And you killed any desire to put it back into the original configuration. I like radios, but that is just too much. As said, all the stuff is gone except the added instruments and switches on the dash. The importer of the 151 did remove all data plates, but I found one in the dirt and put it back in (should have used screws..).
To make room for the big alternator the horn and windshield washer reservoir were moved to the left side. This is how it looked when I got the jeep.

All those radios would probably now fit into a standard briefcase and require a fraction of that amount of power if made today.

the first pic is the Israeli version of our GRC-206(V) rack. They used the PRC-660s as the UHF transceivers rather than our PRC-113s. Our version also used the RT-246 for VHF and the GRC-213 (PRC-104) as the HF component. It came with a 1 Km spool of fiber optic cable and a remote control panel for those operators who didn't want to be standing alongside the target when the radios got DF'd. They were used in the M151, the M113, and the HMMWVs too.k8icu wrote:Moose, The second pic is the FAC used by the airfarse...but I've never seen the top pic you posted got anymore detail on that?
The second pic is a MRC-107 used by USAF FAC's...
