actually a good question because you can damage the body quickly. Don't ask how I know.

In the front I put the jack stands under the front bumper. This is also how it is shown in the manual. In the rear, I use the rear cross member, actually I put the jack stands where the rear lights are.

For lifting with the jack I put it somewhere under the front or rear suspension. I am not using any of the body rails.

And good looking 151. I see you have ROPS, a few holes where the antenna mounts used to be and some patches. How is the underbody?

on the A2, I always used anything between the axle hubs as all the suspension components (that would include the differential in this case) are meant to be load-bearing. Never had any trouble doing that.

Thank you for the compliment and answers. I am concerned about doing body damage so I want to make sure where to place the jack and stands. The underbody looks good, no rust holes. At one point someone did a repair just under the passenger side door. Not sure if this was a repair done during its Military service or after by a civilian.

The jack would go under the control arms shown in that pic. Same in the front, in the front that entire front suspension is a cradle that is bolted to the body rails so that whole area is pretty solid. Personally I put a floor jack under the differential and jack up on that and put the jack stands under the control arms. But that is me, the manual tells you to jack on the control arms. In the front I have no worries at all about jacking under the diff due to the front being a cradle solidly bolted to the body rails. You will not hurt anything there. In the rear you just have to use common sense, do not jack it up on the diff with a thousand pounds in the back. And do not bang it around. That is a very solid section that the diff is mounted on as long as it is not rusted internally.
If you want an idea of how solid that rear section is, on the one I sold that was crushed they squashed it so hard it actually bent the rear frame sections down behind the diff, But it did no damage at all to the part the diff is bolted to!!

Rick has it right, do it the same way he says. Use this rubber pad on the jack under the diff's for lifting the entire front or rear. :)
