This MUTT is very original and has been in the family for about 25 years. When we got it was direct from DRMO still in it’s original markings but needed some TLC. We wanted to preserve as much of the original condition as possible so we didn’t do a full restoration but more of a preservation.
It was one of the MUTTs that went through the rust prevention process and the underside and frame rails were coated with corrosion prevention. Though we refreshed the paint, we didn’t remove original brush marks and it is marked identically to all original markings. It had a military seatbelt kit installed while in service and we reused the original holes to install new belts.
It’s uncut and doesn’t appear to have significant rust, cross members appear to be in good condition.
It is in good running condition, has newer STA tires with less than 300 miles on them.
It’s currently licensed and located in the state of Colorado. Located approximately 1 hour north of Denver, CO
Comes as pictured.

Re: 1970 AMG M151A2 for sale
Very nice. BUT, It is not a 1970. 1970 was made by Ford and had a very unique front fender that straight across from the turn signal to the grill. It was this way in 70-71 and changed in late 71 and then went to AMG in 72. The early A2 also did not have the side scupper drains for the front floor. You also have emissions so it has to be late 74 and up. Hand stamped data plates are very common unfortunately. But it is a very nice A2 nonetheless. If you can find the metal body tag on the transmission tunnel behind the vapor return lines right about where your right ankle would be and get the numbers off of that tag then Ken the Mutt guru would be able to give you a very close date of manufacture of the vehicle. Do not be disappointed if the tag is missing since it seems to be common for them to "dissappear".

Re: 1970 AMG M151A2 for sale
Rick,
thanks for the reply. I have no doubt you're correct. At the time it was registered it was documented on the registration as "1970 AMC Jeep" probably because the person at the DMV knew no idea what it was. The data plate has a funky stamping that looks like a cross between a 1970 and 1979 so maybe it's indeed a 1979? Thanks for the info.

Re: 1970(9)? AMG M151A2 for sale
That too is very common, you register it for whatever you can so you don't have the hassle of trying to prove something. M-151's have no serial number so it is impossible to register them in a lot of states unless they came with a title from somewhere else. Mine is registered as a 67 even though it is a 64. I know what it is and you can tell from looking at it what it is so the registration is just that, permission to drive it on the road.

Our A-2s were built under the same contract number. My hood number is 510184 and yours is 509424. Mine is a 78 so yours is either a 77 or 78. Mine does not have a stamp in the delivery date block. Yours probably had a date added to it as a requirement when it was being registered. Check the data plate on your horn and see what its dated.

Thanks. Yeah, you’re probably right on the stamping which explains why it looks like terrible hand stamping.

Check the date on the horn tag...it has the year stamped on it...does it have an A1 grille?? was it an ambulance?? most late models had ROPS...
slowest mutt east of the missippi..
Re: 1970(9)? AMG M151A2 for sale
When it came from DRMO it looked like it had donated parts to other MUTTs at some point. Had no seats, gas tank, lights, radiator, carb, bows, but the body was in great condition and had a complete otherwise. If I recall the grill was laying in the back.

Very nice truck. Looks like an A1 grill with plugs or covers over the blackout lights. Did it come that way?

One other thing I forgot to mention is that your hood number is short one digit. Yours has the radio jeep data plate on it where as mine was missing.
Re: 1970(9)? AMG M151A2 for sale
Apparently it mounted a gas can bracket on the right side of the cowl in the past. Also, seems that there might be some extra rear floorboard holes that I would not associate with the M4 pedestal installation (if any).

I have the same holes in my rear floor boards but nothing on the right side of the cowl. Both of my rear fender tops had the same hole pattern. Four holes in a line as if it was a radio rack that mounted across both fenders.

That was a standard setup for the CO's jeep in a tank company in the 60's .
