Early Shovel handle Bracket
Anyone have pictures of the early shovel handle bracket with dimensions for the actual brackets? I'm talking about the (2) brackets, formed to 90 deg and spot welded to the side panel. Thank you.

Re: Early Shovel handle Bracket
I can get some images and measurements later this evening. Hell, I might even scan the whole vehicle this weekend, if the weather holds out, but you'll get the imperfections and all. PM your email address if interested.

Re: Early Shovel handle Bracket
Similar measurements on mine but with one difference.
4" long as above.
1-1/4" wide coming out from body as above (1/4" back both edges for start of rounded corner)
1" wide for portion welded to body (square corners)
5" separation inside to inside as above.
1-1/2" down on body as above.
Difference - Instead of 4-1/2" back in last picture, mine is 3-3/4" back.

I get .089" with the digital caliper in several locations. That's with paint.

Okay, I'll go with 14 ga, .071". We'll go light on the paint to keep it within specs...

Re: Early Shovel handle Bracket
Good News & Bad News
Good News - The chances of me dying from a laser designated surgical strike on a Sonic Butterfinger Blast run have been greatly reduced by my choice of paint. I would also surmise that I'm less likely to get a speeding ticket from a laser wielding Peace Officer unless he's aiming for the radiator or the dirt in the tire treads.
Bad News - My color choice and brand of paint is highly absorbent of laser light. No reflectivity means no scan. Tried under shade as well as under direct sunlight. No go. Black has always been a problem for obvious reasons but this brand/shade of green won't work either.
The areas it could scan are colored. If it would have worked correctly it would have been about 1 million points of data in 2 minutes for just this one direction. It works like a charm on my silver Ford pickup.

Re: Early Shovel handle Bracket
While we are on the subject, I have a question for the straight 151 guys, are these stiffener braces common to the backside shovel mount panel? they seem to be spot welded.
Disregard, it's the backside of the old rotted out panels.
