Interesting M416

Unread post by mrdibbles » July 8th, 2013, 6:45 pm

I really like my M101A2, because it hauls more and fits super nice behind my Tacoma, but I thought about this one for several minutes. Seems like real nice shape and appears real original. For sure it would look nice behind the Barstow... my wife would kill me if I had to have separate trailers for each of my vehicles... so please someone else allow me to live vicariously through you.

It does look good but 1500.00 without seeing the floor? I don't know. Same pic's on their site also. Too rich for me.

Seller has a "or best offer" option there too. Agree though on floor. My guess is this trailer is sold within 24-hrs.

I don't think so. Unless it goes a lot cheaper. Lets see who is right.

The photos were interesting. The trailer has a dataplate for a 1965 Stevens M416 which appears glued on, not screwed or riveted. The maintenance responsibility tag which should have been riveted on the right side of the frame is attached right below the dataplate. The rebuild tag indicates a 1968 date which seems rather close to when it was new which i guess could be possible but it, and the other rebuild tag are stickers, on top of a carc "nato" paint job dated 1989. if indeed this trailer was in service into the 90's the tail lights are wrong, because about 1986 they were all changed to the m series composite tail lights identical to the m151a2. it does look like a very nice trailer, but if theres any story that its all original direct from mil surplus i'd take it with a grain of salt.

Here is a similar USMC trailer with same glued data plates, CARC paint job and early style tail lights.
