Went down to the Fayetteville AR area this past week for the annual Bikes, Blues, and BBQ motorcycle rally. A couple of Army buddies and I have made it an annual thing, nice chance to get together and do some riding.
Saturday they had a very nice and well attended antique cycle and car show. Found this interesting jeep in the show. Bet it goes faster than stock! I didn't talk to the owner, too much to see. The whole thing is modded, suspension, everything. Neat idea.

Can't say I have ever seen a transverse front drive Jeep. I doubt it still has four wheel drive.

You would have loved the show Rick. I had no idea there was that much car interest down here in the Ozarks. A lot of high quality from all era's with a lot of 60s/70s era muscle cars as well. The bike show was mainly foreign stuff, all very nice. I had no idea that the Japanese bikes were catching on with collectors, but they have and they were beautiful to see. A few perfectly restored Trumpets, and even a Vincent Black Shadow, which is a rare bird.

Hot rods were big in the Ozarks, just like most other out of the way areas. Nothing better to do so lets do it fast!
I was looking for a smaller Jap bike to get to and from work on but the prices on the older bikes have gone through the roof! Triple or more what they sold for new. I had many Trumpets and Beezers and one Norton. I'll bet you didn't see any Royal Enfields?
For those that do not follow old bikes, the Royal Enfield was a British bike and it used NO gaskets! Just sealer like permatex. That is how close the machine tolerances were. This was when people took pride in their work.

No Royal Enfields! Didn't know they used no gaskets.
They sell those new now, they never quit making them in India, and the plant there started selling them in the states 15 years or so ago. They look a lot like the British Enfields..."Built like a Gun".
I still have my Pop's '56 TR6 Trumpet, first year for that bike. Not in the best of shape but I will set it right soon...It was very much like a Bonneville, but had a single carb rather than the Bonnie's two. McQueen and others used to race them in the Baja.

All of my British bikes were 60's models except for a Trident. I think back on what I sold those bikes for and what they are worth today and just get depressed. I could have retired very comfortably if I kept them. Then again I would have gone bankrupt trying to store them all along with all the Harleys and Jap bikes I had.

I was lucky Rick. I built my Mom a garage many years ago, and she let me store stuff in part of it. I sold a TON of stuff when I moved here to MO. I had about 30 of the Harley Aermacchi lightweight bikes, in various stages of disrepair, but I was going to restore those as part of my retirement. I got pennies on the dollar for those when I had the auction. If you have any pics of you on your old bikes I bet everybody would love to see them., especially if you had a ponytail sticking out the back of that metal flake painted helmet!

Ha, ha. Yea I had long hair then too but the metal flake was in my hair from painting it. If I have any pictures they are buried in boxes somewhere. I have lost a lot of my old pictures through many moves and weather related accidents. One of these days I will g through them and scan some of the better ones
