Ahh, yes. It begins!

Looks good so far. Appears to be in pretty solid condition albeit the big chunk missing from the engine compartment.

I like the vanity/rear-view mirror mounted on the dash. So chic!

Looking forward to seeing your magic!

Ace.

Hi Dan,
Now You need the Glow in the dark gauges :) The 4 latch battery box cover, early spare wheel retainer, the oval floor drain covers with springs. Your funnel appears to be part of the very early H2o heater system-good luck finding the rest! Great find and in great shape. I wish my 63 was that good. Oh and a Harley carb per 62 issue. Early front bumper- the list goes on :)

Good Luck with your resto.

Dan,

Rear Seat: The early one had on the bottom 4 straps. They were the sliding tooth style and metal tips on ends. There were welded footman loops on the bottom of the frame to hold these straps. ONLY the STRAIT M151 had these-ealy. When you folded up your canvas duck split 2 window canopy, it fit under the seat and the straps sinched up and stowed under the seat. I had one of these on my 63, very very hard to find-good luck

This is the engine that will go in this one.

Also this jeep had radios in it. Had the normal corner antenna mount on the passenger side and the other odd mount for the AN/GRC 106 on the drivers side. I have the weird GRC antenna mount.

Look at the pictures of where the rear seat brackets went. These look to be GI as they have at least one coat of Semi Gloss OD on them for sure. Thoughts???

Hi Dan,
Nice early engine ! it has the later style generator braket on it. Early ones were a welded steel design.Couldnt hold the weight and the holes got elongayed. My 64 engine had this on it. You got me stumped on those seat brakets. The 63-64 willys/kaiser copys had the M151a1 style-spring steel clip. Yours is an early Ford-stumped me on that one ! So, you have the very early corner mount for the radio ant. This was strickly made for the M151. It had the added footman loop welded on the bottom. This was the angle iron with the flat top with hole for the ant base ? I had 3 of these before. These will not fit an A1 or A2 series. Nice to see that your m151 has the early features still. Speedometer adapter etc. Do you have an early winshield for it ? Has the webbing on the windshield rests, the early SHORT defroster vent louver. Also, is your hood the 3 ribbed/chevron ?

I believe the extra windshield I have in the garage is an early model as it has brackets with welt riveted to them located where the rubber bumpers should be. If so and you need it, let me know. I have NOS rubber for the middle of the glass too. (and the metal slats also).

The engine picture is not at my shop... Thats the picture of when I bought it.

I do have an early windsheild. stangely i had one from 10 or 15 years ago when I was big into MUTTs always kept it around since I knew it was odd. My jeep had it still on the vehicle but had some extra holes and some misc. wrong with it so I just used my stashed one from the old days.

Keep the info comming on the early features.... I am eating it up.

The brackets over the rear seat holders may have been some radio thing???

I will have it stipped down completely and reay for COMPLETE sandblast next week. Then we get rollin 8)

Looking good, Dan. I have to admit, I am pretty jealous of that truck.

Sorry I missed you at Papago, I had just too much going on here at home.

Keep us posted!

Hi Dan,

Wow, she looks great for her age. The rear panel is awsome. Looks like it will be an easy sandblast job :) I was thinking about those side mounts-(SEAT) There are other members on this site and the other "G" that have EARLY FORDs. If you could contact them in regards to your Q's about these. Maybe they have some other views and/or pics to share. From your pics, I see minimal body work-Patching to be done. Cosmetic-but that is the fun part! I miss my Toys!
Glad to hear that you have an early windshield-Save YOUR SPARE. These are so hard to come by today, that are in usefull condition. Besides, you will never loose $$ on it. I wish I could help you out on parts. however, I am in the Ukraine :( There Govt. would not let me import my 3 jeeps and my parts. Sold it all th many of the members and a ton of it went to Italy and Europe.

Keep the Pics coming !

Oh yea, We got 2 inches of fluffy stuff last night !!!! Maybe shy of 4" for the winter :)
