Methinks the bodywork on that bird is tweaked just a bit! I am guessing that was not an upright landing?

The crash was the result of the gunship pilot getting target fixation, the entire crew was so focused on firing on the enemy in support of the 1st Infantry Div in the southern part of VN, east of Tan An, that no one realized how low they were getting, and kept firing, until it was too late to recover from the diving gun run. They almost made it.

they did and all made it home after their tour of duty.
One however was killed by a drunken driver shortly afterwards.

Hey Toptiger,
Welcome Home.

Just a FYI of a little project Ive been working on.
Started one for pilots and I have 3 sofar. With the help of a friend, I picked up blade #2 for crewchiefs. Eventually the goal is to have them joined with the Hub.

Very nice idea. Those hubs are hard to find, I expect.
For our reunions I try and get the 'Jesus' nut that holds the main rotor on the helicopter. {If it goes, everyone says, 'Oh Jesus!''} I get them mounted on a plaque.
and welcome home yourself.

Born in 1971. Just learning as much as I can to make sure it gets passed on to the next generation.
I will ask my friend to see if he has one laying around.

Ive been invited to attend a friends reunion this year in DC. I have had this one in the works for a long time but I will make it work as this is apparently going to be their biggest turn out. For this one I have a NOS skid tube for a OH-6 that's still in the crate from Hughes.
