I've done that before. We burned down a good section of Dougway Proving Grounds back in '85.

It happens. Range Control was good-natured about it.

The best natured Range Control I have ever worked with had to be at Yakama, WA. We started several fires there and almost got consumed by one while in a HMMWV. Their response was, "Don't worry. It will grow back."

I helped set Sugarloaf Range ablaze more than once at Ft. Hood. Mostly M60 tracers being the culprits. I never did have to go down range to extinguish fires. Just lucky I never got volunteered I guess. :)

That's right! It grows back nice and green!
When we did it, they sent several guys down range with big leather squares on broomsticks to beat out the fire. It also helped to have my O-5 pal with us that day.
