I like MP5's

I decided that it had been long enough since I had owned one. So...this morning i began with a German MP5 kit, in 9mm and a receiver...and got this far. Tomorrow is another day.

Yes they are a lot of fun to shoot. Any more they are also cheap to shoot as well. My favorite version is the standard fixed stock with I think it was safe, semi & auto. It was the first MP I ever shot. While we're on the subject (been thinking about this for a little while) who makes the best MP5/ SP89 clone out there?

I would not know what/who to reccomend. The H&K 94 with a cut down barrel is the best, I think or with the 16" barrel pressed out and with a 3-lug navy, replacement. I have looked at a lot of clones. Some seemed nice others appeared to be finless brown trout. I decided to simply build my own...make all the learning curve mistakes on it... The trouble is the scum receivers that are available for building. I expect the suppliers only offer their ..."seconds"...to the public and keep the ones which are "in-spec"...for internal use. I have learned to ONLY ever use German parts. Everthing/anything else is junk.

Great weapon, but as I see you live in OhioI have a question. I own a couple class 3 weapons and it seems that you are assembling a class 3 weapon for yourself. How is this accomplished legally. I would love to be able to do this project but always thought that I would be required to get a manufacturers license? Thanks.

Yes the first MP I ever shot was a converted 94 (sear gun). What I'm thinking about is more of an SBR rather then select fire weapon. I know that the best H&Ks are made by H&K but those tend to be few & far between and when they are available, tend to be on the pricey side (yes,yes I know, you get what you pay for). This isn't a high priority issue for me so I'll keep looking. Good luck with your build.

I have a fleming sear, never installed it and never intend to either. An investment if you will, paid $5500 for it. People trip out when I show it to them and tell them how much it's worth being the fact that it's about $1.25 worth of steel. I used to be an HK whore but sold off most of my crap to fund a semi PKM, still have several HK pistol's and a set of consec serial numbered SP89's that I bought in the early 90's when they were 900 bucks each. If I had your licenses I would have all kinds of pre and post samples, i'm surprised it's taken you so long. I as well prefer the A2 stocks, I have a hard time getting a decent cheek weld with the A3 stocks, but them do look cooler with them on.

Just out of the park tank and drying in the warm sunlight. Next stop...4 coats of Gun Kote, in H&K black...then into the bake oven.

I am begining to think that an MP5SD is going to be a needful thing...

I got My H&K G3, rock and roller out... and ...was astonished at how heavy the thing is...Damn! I must be getting old!

Mostly what I build is AK's...Lots of AK's... I like Krinks..

I have sent the trigger pack out for conversion to semi-auto and to have it tuned to a crisp 4.5 lb pull...by Bill Springfield, in Colorado Springs. Other than for installing the reworked pack on its' return. THIS MP5, SBR is DONE.

Now... to order in a single point sling...more mags..and a silencer....

You can build an SBR, a silencer or a howitzer...as long as you are able to file a BATFE form 1 in your local. Sorry, you cannot EVER build a MG on a form one...as a non SOT/FFL/NFA licensee.... Not after may of 1986.
