I use to rebuild them back in the day with the locking snap ring in the back.

Maybe I should have stated "Back in my day" which was before internet, computers, cell phones, pagers & ect. ect.

Only electonic divices was at the most was a TV remote, calculator, CB radio, commador 64, Atari ect. ect.

But for the fore most I was talking about old school which these kids of today and even kids 20 + years ago have no idea about.

In conclusion that if all our technoligy takes a dump the kids of yesteryear ^ - 35 will be totaly lost today.

I go back before any type of computer, besides Eniac, Elvis was the king then too! Rotary phones, party lines and .28 cent gas! Have you ever gone into a store and the power went out, 90% of the people do not know how to make change without the register telling them the change!!!!!!!!!! They can't add or subtract without a calculator. I went out to dinner with my daughter the other day and she was whipping out her cell phone to figure out the tip. I told her to do it in her head. Total blank! The scary part is that she is a teacher with a masters degre. She knows how to do it but never does. Everything is done with a calculater now a days. Can you imagine a nuclear attack with a massive EMP wiping out all of the electronics? What would we do?

With our shielded ignition, we'd drive our M151s.

With the exception of the ones with electronic ignition I don't believe EMP would affect the others anyway. I am not an expert on nuclear effect. All I know is I do not want to be around it. This coming from a guy who is surrounded by the oldest nuke plants in the country! :?

EMP works just like a generator does. The detonation sends out powerful electromagnetic impulses. A coil picks up these magnetic fields and turns them into electric current. It works much like how electromagnetic waves from the sun ocassionally damage the electric grid, (specifically the windings inside transformers) especially in northern latitudes where the natural magnetic force lines enter the earth's surface. I don't think it would mess with the electronic ignition as it goes inside the metal box on the side of the distributor that contains the coil. If it was going to mess with the module, I would think the coil with all its windings would fry also. I wonder about the lights etc, but they may be okay as they have no windings and may not have a long enough cable run that would pick up stray electromagnetic radiation and turn it into current.
