M151A2 Battery Cables/ Foot Starter Switch Cables

Unread post by Jay Mallari » January 15th, 2011, 7:16 am

My mechanic in the Philippines is now in the process of fabricating the cables to get the engine running.

Please correct me if I'm wrong about these assumptions.

-There is a short cable that connects the negative terminal of the first battery to the positive terminal of the second battery.

- For the ground, a short cable connects the negative terminal of the second battery and the wall dividing the tool and battery compartment.
My mechanic needs to drill a hole in the dividing wall to secure the ground cable. Where is the exact location of this hole for the bolt?

- A long cable connects the positive terminal of the first battery to the foot starter switch and another cable from the foot starter switch goes to the starter.

Any diagrams or pics (preferred) to confirm my assumptions would be helpful.

The joys of restoring a mutt whilst living in another country :?

Thanks in advance,

Jay

Do you plan on radio's in this one,if so there is a connecting block between the batteries on the rear wall of the battery compartment for the positive terminal,to supply powerto the starter and the radio's......if no radios the ground can go on the rear of the bulkhead between the batteries, between the battery compartment and the toolbox. the rest of your idea is spot on old boy.

Many thanks B. The connecting block you mentioned, is this part of the Battery Upgrade Kit?
If it is, I plan to install that myself when I go home in August. I'm going to put a radio but it's only a dummy.

Had to Google that one. You are quite a ways from the east coast! My daughter went to school up there in Potsdam.
You are only a bit north of the home of the 838 down by Binghamton.
