Guys,
good day! found a caltex SAE90 GL4 gear oil which i've already used on the differentials. i've read an article before that gear oil such as GL5 should have the "MT-1" designation to be safe on yellow metals such as brass. don't want to gamble on the transmission/transfer case and wanted to make sure if this caltex SAE90 with Performance Standard: API GL4; MIL-L-2105 designation is compatible
photo below is the japanese brand universal (cross) joint i've been using since i couldn't find/buy NOS joints anymore sometime ago.... seems as reliable as the stock joints or much better just make sure it's "GU 1000 HD."
regard's,
-percy-

Gear Oil & Universal Joints
the LAST 1/4 ton of FUN....
Re: Gear Oil & Universal Joints
We service automatic shelving that has a lot of brass in the gearboxes. Always use GL5 because of that. GL4 should be fine in the diffs, I havent disassemble the tranny yet, but foran older steel geared system, I would think it's ok.
