Heater install

Unread post by rickf » February 20th, 2009, 1:38 pm

What is the hardest part of the heater install? For those who have done a master cylinder how would it compare? This is on an A1, no ROPS. Power outlet is already installed and the fresh air intake is already installed, albiet I do not know if these are in the exact right position.

haven't tried installing mine yet Rick, but from what I understand the defroster vents and manifold are the real knucklebuster part, then the main heater box....

I'd rather p!$$ on a spark plug than put another one in :!: I took mine out when I restored it. It is hard to handle in the contorted position you must be in to remove it. Hooking up all the ductwork ain't easy either. Get some help to hold it lined up in place while you fasten it. Interestingly, the guy who I bought mine from decided not to put the fresh air duct in, so I have no fresh air scoop on the cowl.

Getting the square looking defrost tubing inside the dash without screwing up the existing wires there, and hanging the heater if you don't have help.

Ralph, is correct...the defrost and floor dirverter on the drivers side is the hardest along with the crossover pipe. Mine had windshield washers and the pump further complicated things....It's a pain the the ____ but I guess it's worth the effort....they really don't throw alot of heat but do seem to defrost the windshield .....good luck....HTN
