How to fill heater hole in dash A1?

Trying to get the A1 ready for Veterans Day and prior to respray, I've got this space in my dash that I presume was a heater at one time. No heater in the parts stash, so rather than just tack weld a cover plate over everything, what are some options? Do they make a cover plate? Do I look at a non working core to fill the hole? Is the heater core the correct part to do this?

Any direction and pics would be appreciated.

Looks more like they had a AM/FM/CD player mounted rather then a heater.

Agreed. Almost certainly a radio. Welding in a patch is best but maybe a flag sticker until you can get to it.

Here is a pic of heater in the 151.It would barely fit in the space, running the heater heat tubes behind the dash to the defrost vents was not an easy task as well the wires to the on/off switch.

Now I gotta go look for the frickin speaker holes!

I thhink I can screw up a solid plate and put some sticker on it for now.

Another option would be a cover plate with adhesive back magnet tape. Sticks to your patch and magnet holds to dash for a temp fix.

Since I am painting the MUTT with the MERDC camo summer scheme, I went ahead and welded in a cover plate. First coat of Hunter Green is on and I'll install a rifle mount and then spray the second coat before letting cure and moving on to the other three colors.

Just bringing some closure to this issue. Welded on a cover plate and installed the gun mount and it passed muster for the parade. I have two eyebolts for safety straps even though the drivers side is not used, so I"m going to attach my antenna hold down rope to those. Either tie a loop and just leep them over the eye bolts or tie on a buckle or caribeaner to clip them on and off. When I raise my antennas the metal clips rattle on my cowl or hood. Is there a way to clip them to smething when not in use? Might go on a footman loop if I install two on the windshield face at either top corner. Just thinking out loud here, a dangerous move on my part.
