The Dodge slant 6 cross reference is for a mechanical fuel pump. Looks much like the mechanical A2 fuel pump but has no provision for the vent line.

The engine is a Hercules. So going to be hard to find stuff for it. They still make the engine in a more modern form but I will bet parts from them are very pricey. Do a Google search for Hercules G1600. The Caterpillar 1404 is the same engine.
You can look for original part numbers here. (the engine was also built by White)
https://www.wincogen.com/wp-content/upl ... manual.pdf
And you can try here for parts. But keep in mind they are going to need engine numbers that are not on the 151 engines so it will be a crapshoot if you can get anything.

WOW! Now that s what I would call a very comprehensive and detailed history of Hercules engines. I knew White was involved somehow but not exactly how until now. Thanks Dave. So the G1600 engines that are out there now are not new engines but are older rebuilt engines from the last iteration of the company?

http://www.herculesmanufacturing.com/ is still in business at 2770 Erie Street S, Massillon, OH, 44646. There is a Massillon based Mil-Veh collector/restorer that uses their service for parts/rebuilds. It looks like remans and parts is their current gig. Interesting, I didn't know that they were a Perkins dealer. I usually get my Perkins parts from the UK. I may need to explore this further.

Hello Dave,
just to say... what a great write-up for White-Hercules history. I really enjoyed that.
I decided to have a look at Wikipedia to see what the story was about the other manufacturer of M151-series engines but there is next-to-nothing about the M151, even though Continental was chosen by Ford for its early M151 contract.
Do you or anyone on the G know more about Continental's involvement?
Kind regards....
Ken

Re: Replacing the water pump what else should i do
Regarding my quest for a thermostat housing (and hoping for a civilian replacement to no apparent avail...)---I figured I would try the three different options somebody listed earlier in this thread in response to my search.
First I tried RAPCO. I left an email with a question, and got no response after waiting a week. I then called, spoke with a lady and was told they would figure the shipping costs, and call or email me with the exact price the next day. That was well over a week ago (closer to two weeks I think!). Nothing. I am not going to beg a business to do business with me.
Then I tried that other one in Kalifornia. I got tired of calling just to listen to their phone ring ..and ring......and ring............
Last choice is some place in Bangkok.
Yeah, that'll go well.

Keep in mind that this is the middle of show season so a lot of the surplus dealers are on the road at shows. Most of these places are one man shows, they are not a big business with many employees. Not anymore anyway.

I'm going to pick up a couple of T/O thermo housings at Red River tomorrow if you need one.

At this point Hambone, I would be honored if you could grab one for me. As long as it is in good condition and a shade less expensive than the divorce I just got, shoot me a total cost and an address (PM) and I will mail a money order!! I live in Caldwell, Idaho 83605 if you need to figure shipping distance.
You are the wind beneath my armpits. Thanks!!
