Connections Switches on conductor foot

Unread post by rupert's » August 23rd, 2020, 6:07 pm

Hello everyone, a long time ago I disconnected the entire electrical system of the A2 and now I have to reconnect it, I have two switches in the area of the driver's feet but there are no numbers for the connection order, does anyone know if it has any order of connection? Thanks for your help!

The 2nd photo looks like the Ignition on/off switch that go's in the dash, the 1st photo looks like the high/low head light switch. that gets mounted on the floor, the other floor switch would be for the starter and the wires for it are held on with nuts and star lock washers not plugin.

Here's a copy of some wiring I posted a while back, this would be looking at the back of the switch in the mounted position.

The three position switch is your high beam switch for the headlights and you can see on the switch it is marked H for high beam and L for low beam. The #17 wire is High beam and the #18 is low beam. #16 is the headlight power coming from the headlight switch. The four position plug would be the ignition switch but it is not mounted to the floor? There are only to electrical switches on the floor, the high beam switch and the starter switch. The starter switch does not use a plug and has the positive cable from the battery coming to one side along with the power supply wire for the main electrical system, the cable on the other side of that switch goes to the starter. On an A2 the charging wire will also go to the hot side of that switch.

You are right, I have been confused, one is the power switch on the dashboard and the one with 3 connections is in the area of the feet, I made the images a long time ago and did not remember this part.
I understand that the connections are:
cable 17 to H
cable 18 to L
finally the 16

The ignition switch connections are as A, B, C, D.
Hambone, I'm looking at your Ignition schematic but I don't know what letter each number corresponds to.

The wires coming into that plug should have a metal tag on each wire with the wire number on each one. I do not remember what the plug looks like on the solid state flasher on the floor but if that plug you show there falls close to the high beam switch it may possibly be for the flasher control which does use letters. I don't remember that using a square type plug but I do remember it using letters.

Looking at the back of the ignition switch, holding it in the mounted position, top left would be wire #11, top right- wire #12, bottom left-wire #11,
bottom right-wire #27, these wire numbers are from the harness.

There is always another, and another. It is never ending. I think we like to abuse ourselves with these things.
