speedometer

In a box of parts i founs this speedometer. this shift on the rear has a nered knob. Does that knob hold the drive shaft?

No, The cable sheath is held by the threaded connector and the inner cable turns to give you your reading. So it would not be there to hold anything. Maybe a cover for a lube point or a calibration point?

Looks to be in the totally wrong place to zero the speedometer but maybe....?
