Gage Ribbed Connector vs Plain

Unread post by m38inmaine » April 9th, 2020, 5:43 pm

On the standard military gages one connector is ribbed and one is smooth on the outside, I can't remember which one is the +24. I remember reading it in the manual but can't seem to find it again.

Thanks

I want to say the ribbed one is the positive but my memory is just not what it used to be. If you look closely at the back of the gauges some of them are marked + and -. You only need one to give you the answer you are looking for.

In case anyone forgets which is which, look at your Battery/Generator gauge. It does not have two connectors, only one (smooth) as it reads the battery strength when your turn the switch on, meaning it is the hot wire for the gauge and does not need the ribbed connector from a sending unit.
