What type harness is this? doesn't fit my regulator

Unread post by ranlee » June 30th, 2019, 8:59 pm

got bits and pieces of parts with my recent acquisition: 6 wheel m151 mod of some sort. got a model m-151 series engine in it. link to my original post: http://g838.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=121 ... 37#p103837
anyways, was going to replace the old wiring harness which has lots of bare exposed places with a new one found in the pile of parts. but doesn't fit the regulator box. different number of pins in the connector. what is the new harness that i have and can it be modified or just need a different one? the newer harness has a tag on it (pic below) ACC19207 11660451.

figure 63 in the -34P manual identifies your harness as the front harness for a 60 amp A2 model. item 2, part number 11660451. also used on the M825 and M718A1.

I believe they make a harness for the 60/25 amp conversion.

The conversion harness is to convert the 25 amp wiring to a 60 amp alternator. It looks like you have a 25 amp generator so you need a short, fat cable that goes from the generator to the regulator. Then, if the harness you have does not fit the regulator you will have to find just the plug and wire in a field wire and charging wire. I am sure I have a plug somewhere but I am not in condition right now to go digging. The 60 amp system does not have any plugs so I am a bit confused at what you have there.

Ranlee, There was an embedded link in your last post linking to "Chase bank near me".
I go through the postings every morning and that is the most common type of spam I run into. The spammers attach a link to a random post. I pretty much immediately delete the user and all posts but in this case I recognized your username. Please check your post before posting it or even after you post it to see if there is something there that you did not put there, you can always edit your own posts.
I edited out the link in your post.

Ranlee.... this is the type of cable that connects the 25-amp generator to the regulator.

I had the same issue. Rick had to re-educate me and was a huge help.
What I did on my 62 Mutt (with the A2 front harness) was a easy fix. I removed the bread box and added a 60 amp Alt/gen. Problem solved and less crap under the hood. Cheers.
