Subject changes to turn signal control

Unread post by Eddie Holland » May 29th, 2019, 8:11 pm

For the first time I get in my A2 and turn the wipers on and they do not work. I even tried to help them along by trying to move the arm a little. Then I tapped on the motor but they never tried to move :/ where would you begin trouble shoot this?
Thanks Eddie

Were they working before?

Do you have power?

Switches DO degrade from lack of use, usually owing to a bit of corrosion on the contacts.. Happily, often all that one needs to do is open the switch, clean the contacts and maybe apply some dielectric grease.

Check those leads for power. I would suggest that the commonality is you have some corroded contacts. It happens. Time to pull a little maintenance.

The control to the turn signals got to were they were working. But tonight I got in nothing . Messed and messed with them and finally gave up.
I took the control arm off and opened it up. Looks like about 3 wires had been hot and melted the coating off. some where touching. What could cause this? Bad flasher unit? The wires that have bare spots are Orange and 2 yellows.
