Arctic heater help

Unread post by njjeeper » December 16th, 2008, 10:12 am

Does anyone have scan of the manual for the gas fired arctic heater? I have one that has no control box or anything and I would like to get it going. Im not sure how hard its going to be without the actual control box but I figured a manual would be a good place to start. Also, if anyone has the wiring/box to one of these they would like to sell, please let me know. Thanks...

I have a NOS one and I have the manual. My scanner isn't worth a crap though, I haven't used it in a couple of years.

Thanks for the quick reply Rick! You have an NOS control box or the whole heater kit?

Geez HTN,

Thought the arctic heater was to keep your hands and feet warm. If all you want to do is roast nuts, sit on the floor between the seats! There ought ot be enough heat there to roast at least a pair.

I believe I have a control box for the heater in storage, but not sure if the heater it goes to has a possibility of ever working again. Might be a part to ask Ohiomutt about. I'm hoping to get down to see Vinnie before spring. I'll be anxious to see the progress on his newest project.

HTN, I had not really thought too much about selling it because I don't know what it is worth. I know better than to ask what it is worth because that would be just like saying "I have this ounce of gold, just send me what you think it is worth". Do you think you would get the right amount? NOT!!!! I am not going to say yes it is for sale but make me an offer and I will think about it.

Back when everyone was freezing in their VW's , mine had a gas heater and it was the hottest heater other than standing in front of a torpedo. If I had one in my jeep there would be no need for a top anytime accept in the rain.. ..HTN

Hey Rick,

Do you have the number on that heater manual for njjeeper? I'm feelin guilty for hijacking this thread on the "TECH" board.

It is actually a civilian manual. I will give you a call tonight if I stay awake long enough. I can say that being able to keep my job is nice BUT, I am sure there are others out there in this position also. Since it is so hard to get and keep a job right now the employers can treat you like crap and get away with it. What are you gonna do? Leave and get another job? Not likely. They have been running my tail right into the ground.

Dont worry about the thread highjack! Its always nice to see an active forum regardless of where the posts are. I think I am good on the manual part. I found a section in the -20 that has most of the info I needed. It look slike I really need the control box and the wire that hooks it to the heater. I think I can fab up something to work as the fuel pump if I cant find one of those. Anyone have a control box they would like to part with?
