That is the connection for an A1 brake lite switch. But it is a pressure switch and not a vacuum switch. Opposite ends of the spectrum. If you get the A1 switch it should have the same connections as your old A2 switch. I honestly do not remember if the A1 brake switch has pipe threads or a flare fitting. I would think pipe. If you are using DOT 5 fluid be SURE to put rags on the floor because you will lose fluid and that stuff get on the floor and stays there. It will be slippery for months.70mford151a2 wrote: ↑May 5th, 2021, 9:50 pmRick, I put the switch back on I had a hell of a time getting the damn thing put on right with the linkage and all and it doesn't work, impossible to do anything with it installed and I don't want to take those damn pedals out again so I was hoping to go around it and do it the A1 way, my banjo bolt has another threaded opening already it just has a plug in it. it looks like set screw it is brass like a tee and it might be for the A1 my dad had an A1 before this one and he had a lot of partsbrassteebrakeline.jpg. I was wondering if I could just put the vac switch there

2 cents - I've ran into problems in the past year or so with my early which also has the pressure style switch. I went through two NOS switches. One from ebay and another from a dealer. The first one began leaking right after I installed it. The second one started probably a few months after replacing the first. I decided that NOS wasn't the way to go anymore. I purchased the following in the hopes that it would solve the leak problems. So far so good. Now keep in mind that the electrical connector to an a1 and this switch is different than the separated ones on an a2 mechanical switch. It's just one plug in. I'll get a couple pictures at lunch and post them up. In that last picture it looks like you have a small leak at banjo. Hopefully, you used new, soft crush washers?

Re: how did the 151 and 151A1 do brake lights
Thanks for your answers and that can't be a leak there is no fluid in the system yet, I am still looking for a clear hose to bleed brakes with, so Rick you're saying that is the correct tee for the pressure switch ( I know I said vacuum (but I was thinking pressure switch) does that count? wonder why they changed it to the mechanical, possible leak? seems to me the mechanical is much harder to work on
anyway, I will try one more time to see if the mechanical switch is bad by doing a multimeter test on it. and if it is indeed the switch I will decide what to do thanks, everyone, Dave out

Hi
You must the A2 switch adjust correct at the rod
It is a sliding switch if not correct adjusted
The contacts wil burn in

Re: how did the 151 and 151A1 do brake lights
well, I have decided on the pressure switch cause one of the wires on the mechanical switch fell out so now I am trying to get the Allen head plug out of the other opening in the brass tee, not going so well in case I can't get it out ar these brass T's available anywhere? I am not having much luck. boy, this has sure turned into a Cluster %^&*, thinking I should have sold it already no I don't really want to but what good is it without brake lights there has to be an easier way.
and I thought the suspension was a pain in the ass. that was a cakewalk compared to this.
if anyone has a tip on where to find one of those brass t's for the A1 master cylinder output I would be interested, or I might have to spring for a new mechanical one, which is a whole new can of worms, there has to be an easier way!!!!!

I don’t get it. The only right way is the correct A2 switch set-up. Everything else is bubba.

Those fittings are not all that easy to find. I have to agree with Horst, buy a new A2 switch and be done with it. Getting mad, upset and pissed off just makes the job go harder. All you accomplish is convincing yourself that the job is impossible, it simply CAN'T be done! Believe me, I have had many jobs working on more modern stuff where it was a lot harder than anything you will find on a 151 and all it takes is patience and a little time studying the job. Keep an open mind and never tell yourself it cannot be done. Hundreds have done it before you. If it starts to get to you then put down the tools and walk away for a while.

Re: how did the 151 and 151A1 do brake lights
Rick, I was getting ready to put the a2 switch back on and a wire pulled out of the switch and I saw no way of getting it back in so I went the pressure switch route and I did manage to get it installed not sure if it works cause now I have to bleed the system but I need a pedal pusher, if this doesn't work* I may just get another A2 switch and go that route, I really wish I would have just left it alone and let it leak. I had a very hard time trying to get the switch and the linkage correct. even the manuals didn't help much.
* it should work I have the wires on right and I used Heatshrink to protect from grounding out
" Lord give me strength to get this done"!!

Well, On the bright side, there is no right or wrong on the wires. The switch is on or off so the wires can go either way.

Re: how did the 151 and 151A1 do brake lights
right and that is the easy part, however, I need to get some replacement wire ends, my old ones are cracked and dried out, the switch comes with the ends, I just need the male counterpart for the harness end, but 1st I need to get brakes working and the little bleeder valves used to be easier to get to as I recall, well back at it regards I hope to have all this behind me by July for our Parade fingers crossed

Re: how did the 151 and 151A1 do brake lights
There is a God, I left it yesterday and the brakes had air in the fluid, and was very hard to bleed started on it today, and lo and behold I have brakes and the brake lights work just need 1 bulb for the left side, I'm gonna replace both of course. and test drive it for the 1st time in a year and a half. I guess the air worked itself out overnight, ah nature.

Well, Horst, I ordered a new brake light switch I want it to be correct. I will listen to any advice anyone has to install it as I had trouble the 1st time. oh and the pressure switch worked so I'll always have that as a backup plan just in case

Re: how did the 151 and 151A1 do brake lights
I received the new brake light switch ( the A2 one), and today I got the MUTT street-legal complete with a new Tennessee license tag. tomorrow I will figure out how to get that mech switch back on, taking mental breaks where needed. soon I will be patrolling my tiny neighborhood. thanks for all the help, out
